The Spelunker’s Valentine’s Day – San Antonio, TX

Anyone on Earth can celebrate Valentine’s Day. But very few people can celebrate it below earth. That’s just what you can do in San Antonio, Texas at the Cave Without a Name.

About 50 miles from San Antonio, the Cave Without a Name is a system of six caverns, complete with stalagmites, stalactites, rimstone dams, and all other manner of subterranean wonders–like cave bacon. It is also one of only two places to see the blind Kendall County Salamander.

The caves themselves would be one thing, but on February 7th, musical duo Fein Tuned will be playing a concert in the cave’s Throne Room. Fein Tuned plays everything from covers of 60s and 70s rock to modern country. They advise concert-goers that there will be plenty of love songs and dancing to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

But the cave concert is only one part of the weekend. Stay in San Antonio and take a romantic stroll or boat ride through the United States’ biggest and best urban ecosystem: the River Walk. With fine restaurants and bistros, arches stone bridges, and the King William Historic District, romantics will lose themselves in the River Walk’s charm. The River Walk features several unique areas. The Museum Reach is a recent expansion to connect the San Antonio Museum of Art and the Pearl Brewery complex. At the southern Mission Reach visitors have the opportunity to get closer to nature and tour four Spanish colonial missions.

In addition, from February 12 – March 1, San Antonio is hosting a Stock Show & Rodeo. Rodeo lovers and first-timers alike will not want to miss this enormous event with over 650 booths, live music, and horseshoes. Besides the rodeo itself.

With a rodeo, Valentine’s Day (even though it’s a week early) cave concert, and the romantic River Walk, San Antonio is the ideal destination for the couple who wants a little of everything.
