The Snow-lover’s Valentine’s Day – Stowe, VT

Cold weather romantics don’t need to travel to Colorado or Canada to find world-class mountains and trails. Nestled into a valley between Vermont’s Green Mountains and premier peak, Mount Mansfield, is the quaint town of Stowe. Visitors will find Stowe the gateway to a world of winter delights.

First of all is the skiing and snowboarding. With 116 trails, Stowe offers something for anyone and everyone. The trails are machine-groomed packed powder and natural snow is complemented with man-made. There are 24 lifts on the trails to get you back to the top again.

In addition to downhill, you can also go cross-country skiing. 150 km of groomed trails and 100 km more of backcountry trails promise a unique trip every time. Or maybe you want to try snowshoeing. Why not aromantic moonlit snowshoe to a candle-lit cabin where a spread of cheese and cider await you? Of course Stowe also offers sleigh rides, dogsledding, snowmobiles, and ice skating.

After a long day in the snow, a relaxing spa is just the thing. Check out Stowe’s 50,000-square foot Spa at Snowflake to ease those sore muscles.

No Valentine’s Day would be complete without dinner. Lucky for you that Stowe has more award winning restaurants that any place in New England, save Boston and Providence. Bistro at Ten Acres, The Roost, and Harrison’s are the top-rated.

Finally, top off your day by getting back outside. Head over to the Rusty Nail where there is bound to be live music. More importantly, however, is their ice bar, which seems to get grander every year.

Then again, cuddling up in front of the fire with a hot chocolate may be the perfect end to your day. For the snow-loving couple, there is no better Valentine’s Day than in Stowe.
