If you love fashion and/or home décor, you no doubt love following the latest and greatest industry trends, including trending colors. Since color influences everything from how we look and feel to the mood in a given space, it’s one of the most talked about industry trends. Each year, everyone from fashion and décor enthusiasts to design professionals highly anticipate the predictions color experts make about what the “it” colors will be for the upcoming year. According to Harper’s Bazaar, 2019 will be all about the contrast between dark and light. Get excited for some gorgeous new colors to take center stage in 2019, including these top 5. 1. Muted Pastels No matter which color pastel you can think of, from pinks and purples to blues and yellows, in 2019 they will be toned down a bit more for an even softer, subtler look. Say “goodbye” to in-your-face pastels and “hello” to tones that still draw attention, but in a quieter, less obvious way. 2. Oat and Mushroom These earthy tones are expected to be popular in both the fashion and home décor industries. Oat is expected to be the new neutral for 2019 and a popular replacement for white. Mushroom, a beige tone that consists of less brown and more gray, will be used a lot in interior design - instead of more traditional beige colors - for its warmth. 3. Powder Blue Sky blues were seen everywhere throughout 2018 but aren’t expected to be as popular in 2019. Instead, it’s predicted that the slightly deeper shade of powder blue will have a dominant role in fashion and home décor. 4. Dark Green The dark green we’ll be seeing in 2019 is a darker version of the common and still much-loved hunter green. But, with some underlying hints of grey, this dark green offers a level of sophistication that hunter green doesn’t bring to the table. 5. Terracotta This dusty color that will be seen a lot as a complementary color in overall design schemes, rather than as a central color. So, rather than seeing terracotta colored walls and furniture, expect this color be seen in rugs, throws and other textiles for the purpose of adding pops of color and bringing personality to a room.
